Qasim Ghazi. After the death of Qasim Ghazi in 1693 AD, his son, Barkat Ghazi, became the ruler of Bhawal. When Barkat Ghazi expired, his son, Daulat Ghazi, came to power. Daulat Ghazi died on his way back from the holy Hajj, and in his absence, Balram Roy took part in the auction and purchased the zamindari of Bhawal in 1738 AD, together with Birendra Roy of Gacha and Nishika Ghosh of Palashuna. The Bhawal zamindari of the Ghazis came to an end, and therefore the rulers of the Roy dynasty appeared on the Bhawal throne. Later, when Balaram died in 1843, his son, Sri Krishna Roy, took possession of the zamindari. After his death, Joydev Narayan took over the zamindari. He changed the name of Pirabari and named the world ‘Joydevpur’, and then Indranarayana, the son of Joydev Narayan, acquired Zamindari. He died, leaving three sons named Vijay Narayan, Chandra Narayan, and Kirti Narayan. Among them, Kirti Narayan was bestowed with the responsibility of zamindari. Kirti Narayan passed away, leaving three sons named Harinarayan, Naranarayan, and Lok Narayan. The earliest of them, Loknarayan, took possession of the zamindari.
After Loknarayan’s death, his only son, Golak Narayan, got the zamindari of Bhawal. Throughout his time, Rajdighi, Madhav Vigraha temple, and Rajbari (Royal House) buildings were built. Later, Kalinarayan Roy Chowdhury became the ruler of Bhawal, who was recognized as the most famous ruler of the dynasty and was given the title of ‘King’. When he expired in 1282 BS, his only son, Rajnarayan, took charge of the zamindari. Rajnarayan left this in 1801 AD, leaving three sons and three daughters. Prince Ramendra Narayan is the Bhawalraj monk, who was a mysterious legend. He and his wife, Bibhavati, visited Darjeeling in 1909 and died mysteriously there. After his death, when his body was cremated within the crematorium, heavy rain started. As a result, the cremators left the body within the crematorium and took shelter within the hotel. Narayan’s body wasn’t found after the rain. Then, about 12 years later, a clotted-haired monk came to Joydebpur and claimed to be the center, Prince. Mystery and endless wonder began.
The Middle Prince told an exquisite story. He was taken to the crematorium and set on fire, but at that point an important storm caused the crematorium to go away, and therefore the fire was extinguished within the rainwater. He regained consciousness. Hearing his groaning, a gaggle of naked anchorites took him with them. Garbed as a monk, he moved around Kashi, Vrindavan, and Banarasi for 12 long years. Then he returned to Joydebpur after 12 years.
But Bibhavati denies him as a husband. Later, the center Prince filed a case within the Dhaka court. This sensational and interesting case was known everywhere in India because of the Bhawal monk case. The case started in 1930 and went from the Supreme Court of Calcutta to the Council of London. After an extended 16 years of litigation, the decision was handed down in 1946, and therefore the middle prince was recognized. Middle Prince died and was named after ‘Gazipur’
The middle prince died just three days after the decision came out. Together with his death, the Bhawal dynasty became extinct. Joydebpur was the middle of the zamindari of the Bhawal dynasty. There’s a palace in Joydebpur, which is understood as Bhawal Rajbari. The palace with 365 rooms may be a spectacular structure. At present, the office of the Deputy Commissioner is in this palace. During the reign of the Bhawal kings, all their activities were administered in Joydebpur. With the demise of the Bhawal dynasty, the splendor of Joydebpur also diminished a touch. After the end of the Bhawal dynasty and therefore the creation of Pakistan, a large part of the Bhawal Pargana, including Joydevpur Thana, was formed into the Dhaka Sadar (North) subdivision. Towards the end of the Pakistani period, when the Bengalis were fighting hard for their independence, there was a requirement to upgrade the world to a neighborhood and since then, the world has been renamed as Bhawalgarh district. But in the end, the world was named after ‘Gazipur’.
Another legend is that Isha Khan was a Jagirdar of 24 Parganas during the rule of Emperor Akbar. One of his Jagir sons was named Fazal Ghazi. He was the first king of the Bhawal kingdom. The Zilla was named Gazipur after the surname Gazi associated with his name.
